Get the Windows XP Sound Recorder on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The Sound Recorder on Windows XP has several features that have been removed from the new Sound Recorder on Windows Vista,Windows 7 and Windows 8. For example, on the Windows XP Sound Recorder you can play sound files that you have recorded in the Sound Recorder and edit your recorded sounds. But you cannot do this on the Windows 7, Sound Recorder that is also on Windows Vista, and Windows 8.But the good news is that you can install and use the Windows XP Sound Recorder on Windows Vista,Windows 7 and Windows 8. And run it alongside the Windows 7 Sound Recorder.

Here is how to install the Sound Recorder from Windows XP on Windows 7,Windows Vista and Windows 8.

On Windows XP go to Windows/System32 folder and look for the Sound Recorder exe file called Sndrec32.

Copy and paste the file in My Documents, then make a new folder. Rename the new folder XP Sound Recorder. And then copy and paste the Sndrec32, Sound Recorder exe file into it. Then right click with your mouse and select send to zipped folder. This creates a zip installer file.

Then transfer the zip file from Windows XP onto Windows 7,Windows Vista or Windows 8.

On Windows Vista,Windows 7 or Windows 8,click properties and unblock the zip file. Then extract the file to Programs normally on C drive.

Before you run the XP Sound Recorder for the first time you should set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP.To set it in compatibility mode do the following- In Programs open the XP Sound Recorder program file and on the Sndrec32 file click properties. Then select"change settings for all users."And then select "run in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3" and then save this setting.

Once you have done this right click on theSndrec32 exe file again and select "send to Desktop"to create a desktop shortcut. You can also create a shortcut in the taskbar and start menu. You can rename the desktop shortcut XP Sound Recorder, or anything you want.

Windows XP Sound Recorder is now installed on Windows 7,Windows Vista and Windows 8.And it will work the same way it does on Windows XP. Windows XP Sound Recorder runs alongside your existing Windows 7 Sound Recorder on Windows 7,Windows 8 and Windows Vista.
