Run Windows Movie Maker 6 alongside 2.6 on Windows 7.

Windows Movie Maker 6 is bundled with Windows Vista, just like Windows Movie Maker 2.1 is bundled with Windows XP.
But Windows 7 does not come with Windows Movie Maker, but you can install Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Windows Vista,on Windows 7.

Windows Movie Maker 2.6 is made for Windows Vista computers that do not have the hardware to run Windows Movie Maker 6. But you can run both Windows Movie Maker 6 and 2.6 alongside each other on both Windows 7, and Windows Vista.

Windows Movie Maker 6 is a clone of Windows Movie Maker 2.1 that is on Windows XP. And 2.6 is exactly the same as the Windows XP version. While Windows Movie Maker 6 has some more advanced features. For example if you upload a video to Movie Maker 2.6,a ten minute video is split up into about 30 or more video clips. And you then have to paste all of these clips to the story board, which takes some time. Where as on Movie Maker 6,the whole video clip is uploaded in the movie maker. And you can then choose to split the video up into clips and or publish the whole video.

In Windows Movie Maker 6 you can convert avi files into wmv just like on 2.6,add subtitles. But there are some new extra video effects and features you can add to your video. And in Windows Movie Maker 6,there is the option to send your video by email after it is published. Windows Movie Maker 2.6 does not have this feature. And also I found that videos uploaded to Movie Maker publish faster in a lot less time in Windows Movie Maker 6. Than what they do in Windows Movie Maker 2.6. At first I was not keen on Windows Movie Maker 6,having tried Windows Live Movie Maker, and found it not user friendly at all.

But Windows Movie Maker 6 is not like Windows Live Movie Maker. And Windows Live Movie Maker is not the same as Windows Movie Maker. The two are very different from one another. But if like me, you like both features of Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and Windows Movie Maker 6. The good news is that you can install and run both 2.6 and 6 on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

If you have Windows Vista you already have Windows Movie Maker 6 as it comes with Windows. But you can also install Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and run it alongside 6 on Windows Vista. And many Windows Vista users prefer to use 2.6 instead of the version 6 installed, others like to use both 2.6 and 6.

But if you have got Windows 7,you will have to download both Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and Windows Movie Maker 6 from the web. As Windows 7 does not come with Windows Movie Maker.

Windows Movie Maker 2.6 can be downloaded from the Microsoft website and Windows Movie Maker 6 can be downloaded from other sites on the web.I have found a download link for Windows Movie Maker 6 and have saved the installation file on Mediafire. The download link for Movie Maker 6 is at the bottom of this page.

USING BOTH WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER 6 AND WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER 2.6.

Both Windows Movie Maker 6 and 2.6 are fully compatible with Windows 7 and can also be run alongside each other in Windows Vista. So you can use both 6 and 2.6 alternatively, although you cannot open both at the same time. But I use Movie Maker 2.6 and also Movie Maker 6 to make my videos. Both versions are good and each has different features. And I recommend that to get the best out of Movie Maker, that you install both versions.

But Windows XP users are out of luck,as Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and 6 will not work on Windows XP. Both Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and 6 was made for Windows Vista, but as Windows 7 is almost the same as Windows Vista. So, both versions of Windows Movie Maker run on Windows 7. And I now have both Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and Windows Movie Maker 6 running on all of my Windows 7 computers without any problems. And Windows 7 does have better hardware than Windows Vista, and so it can run both versions of Windows Movie Maker.
