For example, on the Windows XP Sound Recorder you can play sound files that you have recorded in the Sound Recorder and edit your recorded sounds.But you cannot do this on the Windows 7, Sound Recorder that is also on Windows Vista, and Windows 8.But the good news is that you can install and use the Windows XP Sound Recorder on Windows Vista,Windows 7 and Windows 8. And run it alongside the Windows 7 Sound Recorder.

Run Windows XP Paint and Wordpad on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The Windows 7 version of Paint and Wordpad has the ribbon toolbar. Unlike the Windows XP and Windows Vista versions that does not. Windows 8 also has the same Windows 7 version of Paint and Wordpad with the ribbon. But some people are not happy with the new version of Paint and Wordpad. So here is how to get back the Windows XP Paint and Wordpad. The one without the ribbons on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.If you have a Windows XP computer you can copy both the Wordpad and Paint exe files from Windows XP onto Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Reinstate Windows Mail on Windows 8.

Windows Mail is included in Windows Vista but it is removed from Windows 7 and Windows 8. But on Windows 7 it is easy to reinstate Windows Mail simply by deleting the inactive Windows 7 Windows Mail program file and replacing it with the Windows Vista program file.
Windows Mail can be installed on Windows 8. But the dill file needed to run Windows Mail is not included in Windows 8 like it is in Windows 7 and Windows Vista.So in order to get Windows Mail working in Windows 8 you need to copy the Msidcrl30.dill file from Windows 7 or Windows Vista onto Windows 8.Here is how to install Windows Mail on Windows 8.

Note this also works on Windows Vista and Windows 8. On Windows XP there are two hidden earlier versions of Windows Media player that can be run alongside the latest version of Windows Media Player.

One is WMP 6.4,Mplayer 2 and the other is WMP 5.1,Mplay 32. WMP 6.4 only works on Windows XP.It does not work on Windows Vista,Windows 7 or Windows 8.
