How to avoid mandatory upgrade to Windows Live Essentials 2011.

I have been using Windows Live Essentials 2009,the Windows XP version, since I bought my first laptop. When Windows Live Essentials 2011 version came out at the end of 2010, I tried it on my Windows 7 netbook. And I knew right away I did not like it.
